AMS Physio and Well-being Services was founded by Amber Melita Smith MCSP. A healthcare professional with a career focused in Specialist Musculoskeletal and Orthopedic Physiotherapy, Sports Massage Therapy and Sports and Exercise Science.
The service has a vision of providing affordable expert evidence based assessment, treatment advice and healthy lifestyle interventions to the local community.
This service has assisted many individuals recover from injury and return to their daily life or fitness endeavors.
AMS Physio and Wellbeing Services have background qualifications and experiences in the disciplines of Physiotherapy, Sports and Exercise Science, Personal Training and Strength and Conditioning, With a breadth of experience working within Private Practice, The National Health Service, Sporting and Gym Environments. Your Therapist has a comprehensive background in treating sports injuries, post operative care, mobility, chronic and acute pain, strength and conditioning, obstetric antenatal and postnatal support, hypermobility and more.
Your Clinical Therapist is a specialist Chartered Physiotherapist who is fully CSP and HCPC Registered and Insured.

Where Amber's career aspirations started!
From a young age Amber had always been an active sporty individual. Heavily involved in school and local sports clubs. She passionately enjoyed playing hockey, netball, football and swimming competitively at a national standard.
She believe's that if it doesn’t challenge you it doesn’t change you. If nothing changes, nothing will change. Amber takes pride in maintaining an active lifestyle, a non negotiable habit in which she enjoy's to improve strength, function, appearance, health, sporting performance and mental well being. She engages in the Gym at least five times a week requiring a level of commitment and motivation. She hopes to inspire her clients, family, and friends on the importance of healthy habits, an active lifestyle and work with those who wish to take ACTION to change their behavior and assist them to achieve this.
Amber actually started her career in the Physiotherapy industry as a Physiotherapy Assistant as a post Sports Science graduate, both within Private Practice and the NHS. This drove her to learn more about the Physiotherapy profession and the management of patients following injury, illness or disability.
Being passionate about health and well being, she became motivated and ambitious to become a Physiotherapist. She has a deep drive towards motivating and supporting people in health, recovery and fitness.
Amber studied a Bsc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Lincoln.
The degree was a three year course covering modules on;
Biomechanical Basis of Human Movement, Applied Sports and Exercise Physiology, Psychomotor Behaviour in Sport, Applied Movement Analysis, Physiological Foundations of Sport, Sport and Exercise Psychology, Strength and Conditioning, Sport and Exercise Nutrition, Physical Activity and Health Development
It was during this degree that she simultaneously obtained a Diploma in Sport Massage Therapy.
Amber completed her final year dissertation research project on 'Do The Mechanisms of Post-Exercise Sports Massage Effect Performance and Recovery.'
Amber graduated with an Upper Second Class Honors in 2014.
Before heading to university, she attended Lincoln College and completed a Level 3 BTEC National Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science.
This was a two year course which was completed with a triple grade distinction in 2011. Modules included; Anatomy for Sport and Exercise, Sport and Exercise Physiology, Sport and Exercise Psychology, Sports Biomechanics in Action, Exercise Health and Lifestyle, Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise, Training and Fitness for Sport, Sports Nutrition, Instructing Physical Activity and Sports Coaching.
During this course she simultaneously obtained her qualifications in Gym instruction and Personal Training.
Amber studied a Bsc (Hons) in Phyiotherapy through Sheffield Hallam University.
This course ran over two years, modules included; Musculoskeletal, Neurology, Respiratory, Exercise Therapy, Physiological Foundations of Sport, Evidence Informed Practice Level 4, 5 & 6, Physical Activity and Behavior Change and Complex Case Management.
Amber completed research project's on demonstrating her passion for Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy.
Amber completed six clinical placements within various NHS Hospital Trusts. These placements included; Acute Stroke, Musculoskeletal Outpatients, Specialist Pediatrics (inpatient and outpatient), Elective Orthopedics, Specialist Pelvic Health (inpatient and outpatient) and Respiratory (Medicine and Critical Care).
She has attended observation of various surgical interventions including; Total Knee Replacements, Knee Arthroscopy, Revision Total Hip Replacements, ACL Reconstructions, Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair, Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis correction and Hysterectomy with Bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectomy. An invalubale experience in which she feels has broadened her knowledge of anatomy and surgical interventions, whilst sympathising the patient’s perspective.
Amber graduated with a First Class Honors in 2019.
Amber started her Physiotherapy career in Nottingham, completing her junior rotations at Nottingham University Hospitals. Her rotational experiences included; Respiratory (medicine/surgery/critical care), Trauma and Orthopedics, Gym and Emergency Department and Pelvic Health Obstetrics and Gynecology (inpatients and outpatients).
In 2021, she attained her first Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist post at Sherwood Forest Hospitals working within a busy outpatient department seeing a variety of patients with Musculoskeletal conditions.
Amber has experience being involved in Physiotherapy Gynecological led clinics, leading assessments and treatment of Pelvic Organ Prolapse / Urinary Incontinence in women.
She has also treated and educated patients through supportive exercise classes for Total Knee Replacements, ran ESCAPE pain programs for patients with knee and hip Osteoarthritis, leading Hydrotherapy sessions with patients diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, Elher’s Danlos Syndrome and instructing Antenatal and Post-natal classes for women.
Amber has successfully ran her own small Sports Massage Therapy business since 2014, since graduating, she began to undertake private Physiotherapy assessments and interventions with clients. She continues to do this with aspirations to progress her in Physiotherapy Business and career.
Amber's Sports Massage career started within a private gym facility in Lincoln. This role introduced her to working closely with clients, increasing her knowledge on injury prevention and rehabilitation, to help those return to full fitness. This role also involved instruction of personal training/ fitness classes.
The launch of her own Sports Massage business began in 2014, which she simultaneously ran on a part time basis alongside her other professional and personally endeavors.
She then pursued a career as a Physiotherapy Assistant and Sports Massage Therapist at a Private Physiotherapy Clinic in Grantham.
Amber regularly engaged in providing before and post event Sport Massage Therapy at sporting events; Triathlons such as the Outlaw (full and half), Charity events and Football Games. She was approached to coach two local amateur football teams to develop their fitness and skills before during and post season for two seasons, in which she completed inline with her coaching and educational knowledge.
